PBR Brings Home

PBR's Andrew Wheatland had been negotiating with Vic Track since earlier this year to allow access to the closed Wodonga yard site and removal of S&T equipment needed by PBR for many projects including the central control of Belgrave Yard from a signal box. Access was finally granted earlier this month. A team of volunteers (Andrew Wheatland, Ian Newman, Graeme Hayward, Steve Malpas, Chris Daniels, Damian McCrohan) headed up to Wodonga to retrieve the equipment. A semi load and several smaller truck loads of point and signal rodding, frame and interlocking components, blocks, discs, semaphore arms, lamps, block shelves, a CTC panelĀ and other bits and pieces were transported to Victoria for use on PBR projects.…

Pozieres under steam again
Locomotive Pozieres was relocated from the Puffing Billy Menzies Creek Museum where she had been on display since aquisition to the Bellarine Peninsula Railway. Bellarine have been putting in the hard yards and on Saturday 23rd July 2011 Pozieres moved under it's own steam for the first time in at least 40 years (not quite sure when it did it's last run at Port Pirie) - still some work to be done before she returns to revenue service (cab roof, cylinder cladding, Westinghouse air completed, etc.).

The photograph was taken by David Price on Saunday 24th July  when further test runs were done up and down the yard in between trains hauled by T251.  The work evident here is to the credit of Wayne Pickett, Darcy and all of the others who have lent a hand to get Pozieres to this stage.

In other news Ex Fyansford Perry No 11 has now had all thickness testing completed (I finished the inner firebox on Sunday 24 July) and we are working towards having a boiler inspection done shortly.…

PBR's trolley NVW1 remotored

PBR trolley NW1 has received a new(ish) Holden red motor. I arrived to do track patrol to Gembrook and back on Saturday 28th August to find a note on the driver's seat from David Baker advising the trolley had been remotored and to be nice because it is being run in. Apart from a brief test trip taken the night before this would be the first trip to Gembrook with the new motor. I have to say it was one of the smoothest, quietest runs I've ever done. Combined with the pump and bearing work done a while back you can actually hear the surrounding noises of the bush. Amazing.…
