New gear ordered PDF Print E-mail

Thanks to the support of groups who use the tower, we've been able to place an order for five new sets of gear. This purchase has come entirely out of funds earnt through the team. It is the first time the YVRAT team has been able to purchase equipment from its own money without borrowing from the group or seeking a grant and bodes very well for the future as a financially self sufficient entity.

We would like to thank Sharon of Fire & Safety Solutions of Don River for their support of Scouting in providing a great price on the harnesses and going out of their way to be helpful.

We would also like to thank Steve Morris of Rock Hardware in Bendigo for his great prices and extra special service.

The team prefers to buy from family businesses and is please to support fellow semi-rural and rural Victorian organisations.

New fire rules and Scouting PDF Print E-mail

Under the new fire rules, the following practices have been implemented at Emerald.

On days of Total Fire Ban or Extreme Fire Conditions (or worse) in our area Scouting activities (both hall and outside) will be cancelled.

Conditions will be reviewed prior to departing for camps and the call to go or no go made as early as possible. Should conditions change in the area we are camping unexpectedly then expect a phone call to come and get your Scout.

We expect parents to pro-actively monitor the weather conditions and not simply rely on Leaders to make the call.
